FIGURE SKATING
Skaters' City Guide: Prague with with Daniel & Kateřina Mrázkovi
23 Mar 2026
Welcome to Prague for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships! We are Kateřina and Daniel Mrázek, Czech Ice Dancers, and we're very happy that Worlds are taking place in our home country. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe —full of history, great food and amazing views. If you have some time between practices or competitions, here are a few places we would recommend visiting.
What to see
Old Town Square & Astronomical Clock
The Old Town Square is one of the most famous places in Prague. The architecture is beautiful and the Astronomical Clock is something you definitely shouldn't miss. It's a great place just to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere of the city.

Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge connects the Old Town with Malá Strana and offers incredible views of Prague Castle and the Vltava River. If you want to avoid the crowds, we recommend going early in the morning.

Prague Castle
Prague Castle overlooks the whole city and is one of the most impressive landmarks in Prague. From there you get amazing views of the city.
Best Views in Prague
Letná Park—One of the best panoramic views of Prague. From here you can see several bridges across the Vltava River and much of the historic city center. It's especially beautiful at sunset.
Old Town Bridge Tower—If you climb the tower at the end of Charles Bridge, you'll get a fantastic view of the bridge and the Old Town.

Coffee in Prague
Daniel actually doesn't drink coffee, but we know many people love it —especially during a busy competition week. Prague has a great café culture, so here are a couple of places that are very popular and worth visiting.
Café Letka–A cozy café loved by locals, with great coffee and brunch.
Kavárna Nový Svět–A small hidden café near Prague Castle in a quiet street that feels almost like a fairytale.
Můj šálek kávy–One of the most famous specialty coffee places in Prague.
Best Photo Spots
For one of the best photos of Prague, we recommend walking up to Letná Park. From there you can see many of Prague's bridges and the Vltava River, and it's especially beautiful in the evening.
Another great photo spot is the Charles Bridge, especially early in the morning when the city is still quiet.

A Nice Place to Relax
If you want a peaceful place to relax between sightseeing, we recommend Vrtba Garden. It's a beautiful baroque garden hidden in the center of Prague, and many visitors don't even know it exists.
Another nice place for a walk is Petřín Hill, where you can enjoy great views of the city.
A Hidden Gem: Vyšehrad
One place we really like in Prague is Vyšehrad. It's a historic fortress located on a hill above the Vltava River and it offers beautiful views of the city.
It's usually much quieter than the Old Town, so it's a great place for a peaceful walk. There is also a beautiful park and the famous Vyšehrad cemetery, where many important Czech artists and historical figures are buried.
If you want to see another side of Prague that many tourists miss, we would definitely recommend visiting Vyšehrad.
Something to Do Near the Arena
DinoPark & Matějská Pouť
Right next to the arena there is also something quite unexpected —DinoPark Prague. It's located on the roof of the Galerie Harfa shopping center, just a few minutes' walk from the venue.

Daniel is actually a big fan of dinosaurs. He usually prefers visiting natural history museums —and Prague even has a small dinosaur museum inside one of the shopping centers —but the DinoPark is a bit of a nostalgic place for him. He used to go there as a kid, so it brings back some fun memories.
You can see life-size dinosaur models and other attractions there, and it's definitely something different to do if you have some time between practices.
Something Fun Right Now
If you're visiting Prague during the World Championships, there's also the Matějská pouť, a traditional spring funfair that takes place every year.
After the competition we're actually planning to go there ourselves.
If you like adrenaline rides, we would recommend attractions like Extremeor Break Dance—unless rides like that make you feel sick!
Where and what to eat
Burgers
AC Burgers–One of our favorite places in Prague for burgers. Simple, great quality and always very satisfying.
Dish Fine Burger Bistro–Another excellent burger place that many locals love.
Naše Maso–A famous Prague butcher shop where you can get amazing burgers and sandwiches.
Czech Cuisine
Hostivařský Vidlák–A great place if you want to try Czech-style food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Lokál Dlouhá–A very popular restaurant for traditional Czech cuisine and excellent Czech beer.
Kantýna–Perfect if you like meat dishes and traditional Czech flavors.
Modern Czech
Eska–A modern Czech restaurant with creative cuisine and a great bakery

Favorite Czech Food & Desserts
Svíčková: One dish everyone visiting the Czech Republic should try is svíčková — a traditional Czech meal with beef, creamy vegetable sauce and dumplings. And personally, we really love this dish!

Goulash with Dumplings: Another classic Czech dish is goulash with dumplings, which is perfect after a long day exploring the city.
Trdelník & Czech Pastries: One of the most popular Czech desserts is trdelník (chimney cake), which you can find in many places in the historic center. Czech cafés also offer many great cakes and pastries, which are perfect if you want a sweet break during the day.
Where We'd Take Other Skaters After the Competition
After the competition we would probably take other skaters for dinner somewhere with traditional Czech food, like Lokál Dlouháor Hostivařský Vidlák, so they can experience local cuisine.
Lokál Dlouhá is only about a 15-minute drive from the arena and it's a great place to try classic Czech dishes and beer in a lively atmosphere.
And if there is still some energy left, we might go for a walk through the Old Townor across Charles Bridge at night—Prague is really beautiful after dark.
Skating Together as Siblings
People often ask us what it's like to skate together as brother and sister. For us it feels very natural —we've spent most of our lives training together, traveling together and supporting each other through competitions.

Even though we didn't start skating together as a pair when we were little —we actually teamed up much later, when Kateřina was 14 and Daniel was 17 —we still grew up on the same ice. We trained at the same rink and had the same coaches, and at the very beginning even our mom coached us.
So in many ways we have been sharing the same skating journey from the start.
Of course, like any siblings, we sometimes argue too… but usually only for a few minutes!
But sharing this journey together is something very special. It definitely makes the victories sweeter and the tough moments easier.

Skating at Home in Prague
Competing in Prague is very special for us. Skating in front of a home crowd always gives you extra energy.
Czech fans are very passionate about sport and they always create an amazing atmosphere, so we're really looking forward to performing here during the World Championships.
"We hope everyone visiting Prague for Worlds will enjoy the city as much as we do."
